Site Header
The Site Header is an Experience Block (xBlock), which is like having a page within a page.
Editing the Site Header in the Experience Editor
Navigate to the Shared Content > Primary Navigation item and open it in the Experience Editor, or click on the red Edit link in the header. Follow the instructions for each section below to edit the links found inside of it.
Primary Navigation Items
Primary Navigation Items are the individual drop-down menus for each section of the site. Click on the menu you would like to edit, then click on the first icon in the Editor Ribbon to open that menu in a new Experience Editor window.
Each Primary Navigation item has two sections. The left side is for Primary Navigation Links to pages within that section and the right side contains a Primary Navigation Feature which can be used to highlight a certain page within that section.
Primary Navigation Links
To add a new Primary Navigation Link: Click on the Component button. Click the (+Add here) button where you want to place the rendering, and the Select a Rendering window will open. Click on the Primary Navigation Link component inside the renderings box, then click the Select button to choose it.
Select Create New Content from the options on the left, and then give your Primary Navigation Link a unique name in the Name field.
Click OK, and your new Primary Navigation Link will be added to this section and the Primary Navigation Links subcontent folder for this section. Be sure to save to preserve your changes.
To edit an existing Primary Navigation Link: Click inside the placeholder text to open the Editor Ribbon, then click on the link icon to open the link editor modal.
Choose the type of link you want, and fill in the URL field. Put the link text inside the Link Description field, and click OK.
To edit Primary Navigation Links in the Content Editor: Locate the link you want to edit within the subcontent folder of the section you want to edit in:
Shared Content > Primary Navigation > Subcontent > section > Subcontent > Primary Navigation Links > link
Choose the type of link you want, and fill in the URL field. Put the link text inside the Link Description field, and click OK. Be sure to save to preserve your changes.
Primary Navigation Features
To add a new Primary Navigation Feature: Click on the Component button. Click the (+Add here) button where you want to place the rendering, and the Select a Rendering window will open. Click on the Primary Navigation Feature component inside the renderings box, then click the Select button to choose it.
Select Create New Content from the options on the left, and then give your Primary Navigation Feature a unique name in the Name field.
Click OK, and your new Primary Navigation Feature will be added to this section and the Primary Navigation Features subcontent folder for this section. Be sure to save to preserve your changes.
To edit the Heading of an existing Primary Navigation Feature: Click inside the placeholder text and start typing.
To edit the Content of an existing Primary Navigation Feature: Click inside the placeholder text and start typing. An Editor Ribbon will appear above the text area as you type.
The four items after the pencil give you basic editing functions for use right on the Experience Editor: Bold, Italic, Underline, and Link. Clicking on the Pencil icon will open a modal with the Rich Text Editor, giving you access to additional functionality including a WYSIWYG Design view, and an HTML view.
To edit the Call to Action Link of an existing Primary Navigation Feature: Click inside the placeholder text to open the Editor Ribbon, then click on the link icon to open the link editor modal.
Choose the type of link you want, and fill in the URL field. Put the link text inside the Link Description field, and click OK.
Be sure to save to preserve your changes.
To edit Primary Navigation Features in the Content Editor: Locate the feature you want to edit within the subcontent folder of the section you want to edit in:
Shared Content > Primary Navigation > Subcontent > section > Subcontent > Primary Navigation Features > feature
Edit the fields to the right.
