If you’ve evaluated your options and are ready to generate renewable energy to power your home or business, the next step is applying for interconnection and net metering benefits. All applications require an upfront processing fee of $100 at time of submission, this fee is typically charged to the installer.
Steps to apply for interconnection and net metering systems up to 100 kW:
- Submit an application (this is typically submitted by your installer unless you are doing a self-install)
- Avista will notify customer and installer within 5 business days the application has been received.
- Avista will notify installer within 10 business days if application is complete or incomplete, and if incomplete, what information is missing or any revisions required.
- Avista will notify of approval/disapproval of the application within 20 business days.
- Once application is approved customer and installer may begin work following local code and permitting requirements.
- The installer will email Avista a copy of your finalized electrical inspection and notify us that the installation is completed.
- Avista will come out to check for safe interconnection and install any new meters required.
- Avista will issue an approval to energize and initiate net metering.
