If you’ve evaluated your options and are ready to generate renewable energy to power your home or business, the next step is applying for interconnection and net metering benefits. A non-refundable application processing fee is due at submission: $100 for systems up to 25 kW and $500 for systems greater than 25 kW.
Steps to apply for interconnection and net metering systems up to 100 kW:
Most applications are submitted by a solar installer. If you are doing a self-install, enter your information as both the customer and installer on the application. You will also be responsible for completing any steps below that refer to the installer.
- Submit an interconnection application through Power Clerk.
- Avista will notify customer and installer within 5 business days after the application has been received.
- Avista will notify installer within 10 business days if application is complete or incomplete, and if incomplete, what information is missing or any revisions required.
- Avista will notify of approval/disapproval of the application within 20 business days.
- Once application is approved customer and installer may begin work following local code and permitting requirements.
- Once the installation is complete, the installer will let Avista know by submitting a Request to Energize through Power Clerk.
- Avista will come out to check for safe interconnection and install any new meters required.
- Avista will issue an approval to energize and initiate net metering.
