Bringing you reliable energy everyday
Avista Utilities is involved in the production, transmission and distribution of energy. We provide energy services and electricity to 411,000 customers and natural gas to 377,000 customers in a service territory that covers 30,000 square miles in eastern Washington, northern Idaho and parts of southern and eastern Oregon, with a population of 1.7 million. Avista Utilities is an operating division of Avista Corp. (NYSE: AVA).
Avista generates power from 8 hydroelectric projects and 7 thermal generation plants and receives power from 115 wind turbines. Then we send it over 19,000 miles of distribution lines across 30,000 square miles to more than 300,000 customers.
Maintaining and updating our transmission and distribution systems requires ongoing capital investment.
As an investor-owned utility, our carefully assessed capital expenditures are recovered by rate cases. Utilities provide reliable service at a Commission-determined reasonable, non-discriminatory price to all customers that want energy service. Utilities receive recovery of prudently incurred costs and the opportunity to earn a Commission-determined reasonable return on investment.
