Avista Foundation’s Giving Provides Year-Round Community Support

Across Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, and Alaska, nonprofits are tirelessly working to meet urgent needs, often with limited resources. This is where the Avista Foundation steps in to provide crucial support.

In 2024, the Avista Foundation awarded over 150 grants, totaling more than half a million dollars, to communities served by Avista Utilities in these states.

"Seeing our partners' commitment to helping communities flourish is truly inspiring. We're honored to support their work,” said Avista Foundation Executive Director Kristine Meyer.

In Lewiston, Idaho, an Avista Foundation grant helped LC Crew buy shoes for children in need. In Spokane, support from the Avista Foundation helped Second Chance Ranch expand its programs for military families.

“The Avista Foundation has been one of our biggest, most loyal supporters through the years,” said Katie Merwick, executive director of Second Chance Ranch.

In Oregon, the Avista Foundation assisted the Southern Oregon Child and Family Council Inc’s LISTO Family Literacy Program in providing education for Latinx adults. Additionally, a grant brought lighting to Sandpoint Skatepark in Idaho, making it safer.

And the list goes on.

Grant applications are accepted every three months for different focus areas, including:

For over 20 years, the Avista Foundation has made a difference by working closely with the communities it serves. Since it was founded, the Foundation has given more than $17 million to various organizations.

It’s important to note that the Avista Foundation does not receive funding from Avista Utilities customers through rates. It is a separate, non-profit organization established by Avista Corp.
